White Cairn Walk
The chambered cairn is located in commercial forestry 400m W of Glentrool. The cairn was excavated by Piggott and Powell in 1949, and is well known as an example of the round passage graves of SW Scotland that came to be known as the 'Bargrennan type', standing in contrast to the more widespread 'Clyde' long cairns.

Glentrool Kindness Path
Back in 2019, after much fundraising, a path was constructed from Glentrool Village to the House o’ Hill Hotel. The idea being that it would make it safer to walk the mile between the village, caravan site and pub. This was a very welcome addition to Glentrool, but now it has evolved into so much more than just a path. This is the story of Glentrool Kindness Path.

A tranquil spot at the heart of Galloway Forest Park. Discover the lively waters that meet at picturesque Loch Trool on scenic trails beneath the mighty Merrick. This area's history is also written into the landscape – look out for Bruce's Stone, overlooking the site of the Battle of Glen Trool, and a moving monument to 17th century covenanters who were slain for their religious beliefs.
